Drawings of inspiration

These drawings are from visits to Mamtoor (Mother Mountain) in Castleton, Derbyshire during my first year at Nottingham Trent University, they have been drawn from photographs and contain both soft and hard line by using pencil, pen and coloured pencil. Perspective has also been with light, shadow and tone applied equally, different artists like Fabian Perez (famous for his pencil drawings and others), and Bruno Tunici have been viewed prior to producing these drawings. The element of colour that both artists use is an important aspect and this has been added to drawings where it was necesary. This is demonstrated successfully.

The curves of nature, sounds and textures influence my work, drawing first hand from life is exhilarating to me being in the outdoors, smelling the sweet scent of the flowers and hearing the sounds of the birds around me. Landscapes, butterflies, birds and the lines and texture of the citrus fruits are all my inspiration for my designs.

Exploration in mixed medias may be developed from this use of media in the drawings, 3 dimensional aspect may also be added to add depth to the drawings and the layering of drawings may also give a different aspect to the drawings. Larger drawings may be produced for prints of wall hangings, or separately for unique paintings. The concept of bringing the outside in is what inspire me, to ensure the observer truly feels connected with the piece whether it is a drawing, painting, piece of jewellery or an installation piece.
